Using the wrong sealant can not only cause your gutters to leak, but also may cause your gutters to need to be replaced! Another common issue that can cause leaks is inadequate use of sealant on your end caps and miters. A properly sealed miter/end cap should have sealant spread evenly over the seam and around all screws used to secure the miter in place. Also, the sealant should run up the back of the miter and cover that area completely. The tiniest hole in sealant can cause a leak. At Martin’s we properly seal your seamless gutters – the more we use, the better! If you suspect a leak, you can simply use a water hose to spray water on your roof to test the end caps and miters.
